Interpret Scotland

About Interpret Scotland

Interpret Scotland is a Scotland based inter-agency initiative set up by a variety of organisations involved with heritage interpretation.

Interpret Scotland began in 1997. Its key aims are to:

  • Improve the quality and quantity of heritage interpretation provision in Scotland.

  • Promote the co-ordination of heritage interpretation at local and strategic level

  • Share resources, expertise and experience to avoid duplicating effort.

  • The bi-annual Interpret Scotland journal has been running since 2000 and includes articles on heritage interpretation.

Interpret Scotland works to raise awareness of professional heritage interpretation within Scotland, particularly through inter-agency support and networking.
