HDC Fossil Panels File Preparation Guidelines


It is essential that you carefully review these guidelines. Please call or email us with any questions or concerns. We’re here to help. You can reach us at hd.consulting@btinternet.com


IMPORTANT!


File issues that lead to additional charges, delays and mistakes;

  • Fonts missing or not outlined

  • Embedded and linked images not included on disk

  • Low-resolution files - 240 DPI at final output size required

  • Colours not setup as RGB

  • Colours not specified as solid, 100% Pantone

  • PMS colours not linked to graphic elements

  • Prints or PDF reference not provided

  • File not set up at 100% of final size

  • Panels missing a .25” bleed

  • Graphic less than .5" from finished edge

  • Colour sample file not provided

  • Crop marks not on a separate layer

  • Incorrect path for profile cut

    Colour Samples

  • 8”x10”x1/16” laminate colour matching sample: £50.00

  • Provide file for each sample

  • Colour sample file creation fee: £80.00


    Layout Proofs

  • PDF: Included

  • Laser printouts (11”x17”): £10.00 (shipping not included)


    Murals

  • Maximum panel size: 57.25" x 143.75”

  • Add crop marks to indicate final mural size & size of each section

  • Include a .5" inch bleed around mural perimeter

  • Photoshop and Illustrator are preferred

  • Image tolerance: less than .25" over 12'


    Profile Cut Panels

  • Panels not square, rectangular or circular

  • Include a vector cutting file for each panel

  • Illustrator is preferred. Charges apply on pixel based files

  • Use 1-point stroke cut lines of a colour not used in artwork

  • The space between cut lines must be at least .125”

  • Include a .25" bleed around cut line

  • Cutting files should be a separate layer labelled “Cut Path”

  • Minimum radius of inside corners is 1/16”

  • Use as few anchor points as possible to avoid additional charges


    Supported Applications


    Illustrator

    Contact us before using transparency effects with spot colours


    Photoshop

  • Supply layers as an un-flattened PSD files.

  • Include the flattened TIFF or EPS files

  • Avoid JPEG and LZW compression

  • All solid black vector elements, including text, must be Rich Black

  • Un-pixelized text elements require a layout program

  • Text layers must be rasterized

  • Use Pantone colours with monotones, duotones or tritons

  • Do not alter the colour name


    InDesign

    Documents must be set-up as final panel size. Half scale documents must be set-up at half the panel size


    Freehand

  • Convert all text to path

  • Remove all unused colours from colour palette

  • Include a Macintosh EPS file with each file

  • Do not use masks

  • Only use gradient fills in small areas


    Corel Draw

  • Supply a high resolution PDF with each file

  • Group same colour elements together

  • Do not merge photos on the same layer

  • Files must be in both the native CDR and in EPS formats

  • Convert all text to curves

  • Contact us before using feather and shadow effects or texture fills


    Quark Express

  • Use “Collect for Output” command to include linked images

  • Panel over 48” must be built at ½ or ¼ size

  • Use the same version and program for all panels

  • Supply all fonts when using Quark

  • Mac: Include all font suitcases and postscript fonts

  • PC: Include all True Type fonts
