Association of Independent Museums - AIM

The UK based Association of Independent Museums or AIM is the national body that connects, supports and represents independent museums in the UK.

The Association of Independent Museums (AIM) was founded in 1977 in response to the growing number of community-based projects seeking to preserve locally and nationally-important heritage.

The Association of Independent Museums has grown to become a respected sector group, consulted on national policy and providing a thriving network for members.

Membership of the AIM encompasses independent museums ranging from small local volunteer run organisations, to large institutions, many operating as charitable trusts, and represent over half the museum provision in the UK.
